When watching sport or other fast-paced action scenes like in movies, on a VIERA Plasma TV -- every moment matters. So you do not miss a single exciting moment Panasonic engineers have developed a number of motion technologies designed to deliver smooth and detailed stunning on-screen action.
100Hz Double Scan
The standard European PAL broadcast signal is 50Hz - meaning that the on-screen picture on your TV is refreshed 50 times each second. However, as the human eye is capable of perceiving many more frames per second, a 50Hz signal can sometimes feel flickery and the on-screen action not smooth. To solve this problem all our VIERA Plasma TVs come equipped with 100Hz Double Scan technology which automatically displays each frame twice thus delivering crystal clear and flicker-less images.
Intelligent Frame Creation
In order to deliver even smoother on-screen motion, our high-end VIERA Plasma TVs* also come with Intelligent Frame Creation technology. Using the formidable computing power of the V-Real 3 processor, motion compensated additional frames are created and inserted between the source frames resulting in ultra-smooth on-screen movement. Accordingly, watching action movies, Olympic events, Formula 1, football, or broadcasts of other fast moving sports events, VIERA Plasma TVs deliver the very best on-screen motion.
0.001 Response Time
You may often hear LCD manufacturers referring to 'Response Time', a measure of how fast it takes pixels to go from active - to inactive - and then back to active again so that they’re ready to play a part in the next frame of the picture; with LCD screens this is typically anywhere between 4 to 25 milliseconds. However, our VIERA plasma TVs use self-illuminating cells requiring only one impulse per pixel to produce an image, meaning that they are able to achieve an equivalent Response Time of a staggering 0.001 milliseconds!
