VIERA LCDs and Ecology

Panasonic products provide convenience and comfort within people’s lives, through the manufacturing, use, and disposal of these products each has an impact on the environment – herewith we take a look at what Panasonic is doing in the area of VIERA LCD TVs to reduce this impact.

Panasonic Eco Ideas

VIERA LCD Eco Mode
Looking for ways to reduce carbon footprints, people are increasingly concerned about the energy consumption of their consumer electronic products. Panasonic has introduced a new option called “Eco Mode” as standard on almost all of our TVs. This mode utilises a photo sensor to measure the ambient light conditions in the room and adjusts the panel brightness accordingly - helping to minimise power consumption and reduce your electricity consumption.

Panasonic has taken their efforts even further than just the products and introduced a number of environmentally aware initiatives in its manufacturing process. At the state-of-the-art Amagasaki plant in Japan, improvements have been made to the manufacturing process resulting in a substantial reduction of CO2 emissions per screen. The plant itself is partially-powered using natural energy sources including solar panels and wind turbines and makes use of collected rainwater to water its lawns. The outer wall of the Amagasaki plant has also been coated with photo-catalytic material to prevent harmful substances leaking into the ground and all waste disposals are tracked.
