Panasonic Launches ‘Next Generation Creative Talent Competition’

Panasonic has teamed up with YCN to launch a competition challenging creative students across the UK, to create a film, storyboard or print ad to promote the unique benefits of its Panasonic Viera PZ81 Home Hub TV.

Panasonic has teamed up with Young Creative Network (YCN) to launch a competition challenging arts, media and creative students in sixth forms and universities across the UK, to respond to a live brief and create a film, storyboard or print ad to promote the unique benefits of its Panasonic Viera PZ81 Home Hub TV.

The concept aims to engage the hearts and minds of young creative talent as potential future Panasonic brand advocates, whilst building a source of useful creative content to showcase the Viera PZ81 Home Hub TV.

Established in 2001, YCN exists to unearth and showcase emerging talent in design and visual communication. Through award programs, publishing ventures and the curation of frequent events; YCN has built up a large and ever growing international audience.

A microsite, www.nextgenerationtalent.co.uk, has been set up, where students can download background information and the briefs. Students can also upload their work and view the work of others in a gallery section. Panasonic’s competition and the microsite will be promoted on YCN’s website, www.ycnonline.com, and in briefing packs, in the style of the microsite creative, issued to YCN’s database of 2,000 lecturers, reaching an audience of 80,000 students. YCN has also recruited twenty ambassadors who will promote the initiative in universities and colleges.

Panasonic are providing the following prizes a 42” Panasonic Viera plasma TV, Panasonic HD Camcorder, Lumix Digital Camera and a Surround Sound Blu-Ray Home Cinema System worth over £2,500. In addition to this the lucky winner will secure a week’s work placement at one of Panasonic’s creative agencies and see their work on www.panasonic.co.uk. Panasonic will also award the winner’s college £2,500 worth of Panasonic products of their choice. The three runners up will receive one of the latest cameras from the award winning Panasonic Lumix range.

John Dixon, Head of Brand Communications at Panasonic said of the initiative, “We wanted to engage with a new audience - the next generation of creative talent in the UK who are potential future brand advocates and customers. This audience are key influencers for the next generation of Panasonic purchasers, so we’re throwing down the gauntlet to them with a live brief that’s genuinely exciting to work on and will engage them on a creative level. Working with a credible partner like YCN will help us take the competition to the widest possible audience, driving students to the microsite to get them started on their entries. There’s nothing else out there yet like the Panasonic Viera PZ81 Home Hub TV, and we can’t wait to see what ideas young fresh young minds will come up with to promote it!”

Johanna Lundberg at YCN comments “Panasonic have laid down a great creative challenge, and one that will no doubt be tackled in a rich range of styles and media”.
