Panasonic introduce Fridge-Freezers and Washing Machines in Europe

Panasonic Corporation has announced that it will extend its European product portfolio with the introduction of fridge-freezers and washing machines.

The new products will incorporate innovative and energy-saving features based on its proprietary technologies. The fridge-freezers and washing machines, which have attained high market popularity in Japan due to its stylish design and user convenience, have been adapted to meet the tastes of European consumers. Panasonic will first introduce these products in March 2009 in seven European countries including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom followed by other European countries thereafter.

White goods reflecting commitment of Panasonic to the environment
To meet the rising needs in environmental preservation and energy conservation, Panasonic has incorporated energy-saving technologies in its white goods, which have won strong market reaction in Japan. Panasonic believes these same features will also be highly popular when it enters into the European market. “European users are by far the world’s most environmentally aware customers. We are convinced that our products will satisfy the demand for economical and environmentally compatible solutions that also offer top performance, quality and design as well as ease of use,” says Yorihisa Shiokawa, Managing Director of Panasonic Marketing Europe.

Technology leader in the fridge-freezers and washing machine segment
Panasonic will first introduce premium products that leverage its proprietary technologies. With the NR-B30FX1, its premium model, Panasonic is offering the first A++ No-Frost Fridge-Freezer. The exceptional energy efficiency was made possible by a shrewd combination of technological innovations such as Inverter technology and the U-Vacua vacuum insulation panel. As a result, the new fridge-freezers are much quieter than comparable models while the substantially thinner insulation walls provide greater storage capacity. Features such as the Vitamin-Safe compartment and Hygiene Active also considerably improve the actual storage conditions, meaning that foodstuffs – especially fruit and vegetables – remain fresh and appetizing.

Panasonic will also introduce a premium model for its washing machines, the NA-16VX1. With the EU-rated A-20% energy efficiency class, the washing machines have a power consumption 20% lower than conventional A-category appliances and, like the fridge-freezers, produce best values in terms of electricity use. The washing machines also work faster and use less water. This outstanding ecologically compatible washing process is also the result of various Panasonic technological innovations. By tilting the drum 10°, Panasonic has reduced the water levels in the drum. Together with the Inverter technology and 3D Sensor Wash, the movement of the drum can be controlled, ensuring the optimal cleaning performance. Furthermore, these next-generation washing machines are easier and more convenient to load and unload, and the controls are intuitive.

Aiming for the top spot
In the household goods sector in Japan and other parts of Asia, Panasonic has consistently notched up high figures with the company's refrigerators and washing machines. "Wherever we go to market with our refrigerators and washing machines, we end up in a leading position, which speaks volumes for our products. So as far as Europe is concerned, we are planning on becoming a major player in the top segment," Mr. Shiokawa confirmed.

Panasonic refrigerators and washing machines will be available from March 2009 in seven European countries including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom, followed by other European countries over the course of the year.
