Leica Dicomar Lens

That’s why Panasonic HD video cameras come equipped with a Leica Dicomar lens. Jointly developed by world-renowned Leica Camera AG and Panasonic, this advanced lens system renders finely detailed, high-resolution images that unleash the full potential of HD technology.

Furthermore, Leica Dicomar lenses not only ensures image clarity, but also captures the delicate and rich nuances of shadows and highlights, which is a hallmark of Leica lenses. This image clarity is improved thanks to the very latest lens technologies, such as multicoating and low dispersion aspherical lens construction.

Mulitcoated lenses
When light passes through a lens, the lens surface sometimes causes diffused reflection, resulting in image noise that appears as ghosts or flare. The multicoated lens prevents this reflection. When multiple lenses are multicoated, the lens system is able to suppress diffused reflection more effectively. The lens system with 12 elements in 8 groups has 14 multicoated surfaces.

Low Dispersion Aspherical Lens
The low-dispersion aspherical lens minimises chromatic aberration caused by focal deviations in the light after it enters the lens. This suppresses both colour bleeding and false colour generation.
