LEICA DC Lens

Panasonic's goal with their LUMIX cameras is to give people the tools to find the great photographer inside them. As the lens is the 'eye' of the camera, getting this part of the camera right is absolutely fundamental to taking better photos. Therefore Panasonic decided to form a partnership with the legendary and most prestigious camera and lens maker on the planet: LEICA of Germany.

Known for their expressive colours, remarkable depth, and superb performance, Leica lens were the natural choice for LUMIX. LUMIX cameras feature LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT* and LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR* lens systems which include several aspherical lenses to compensate for spherical aberration and further stand out due to their excellent optical performance and compact dimensions.

Minimal Distortion
LEICA DC lenses unique construction effectively suppress the type of distortion that crops up so often in wide-shots. Straight lines are actually depicted as straight.

Consistent Resolution Levels
Unlike less complex lens constructions, LEICA DC lenses set themselves apart with their consistent levels of sharpness throughout the whole image, right up to the edges.

Effective Coating
In addition, an advanced multi-coating process is applied to the LEICA DC lens surfaces to help prevent fogging caused by flare and ghosts that can occur at excessively high light levels. This ensures playback that is both rich in detail and in contrast.
