Featuring 4 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces, this lens system makes it possible to create a 25mm wide angle lens with 10x optical zoom that is compact enough to fit into a slim camera body. This advanced lens allows capturing images with a sense of spatial breadth and depth that is not possible with a 35mm lens.

Bright 460,000-Dot 3.0" LCD with Intelligent LCD Function
The TZ5 features a 3.0" LCD with a total of 460,000 dots for comfortable viewing. The LCD's brightness adjusts automatically in 11 steps as the ambient light level changes, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors.
HD Motion Pictures and HD Output
The TZ5 can record motion pictures with sensational 1280 x 720p HD resolution at 30 frames per second. You can use the zoom too and capture some truly dramatic shots. When you're done shooting for the day, simply connect* the camera to an HDTV and you're ready to view your still shots and motion pictures in high definition beauty.

Venus Engine IV Image Processor
Venus Engine IV uses advanced signal processing to give you even higher-quality images. It also offers a number of other improvements, including more accurate detection and better correction for its MEGA O.I.S. and Intelligent ISO Control functions. Venus Engine IV responds quickly and saves power even with full 10.1-megapixel resolution.
Special Travel Functions
Clipboard for Storing Information - you can take photos of maps, timetables and other travel info. They are saved in a separate folder of the built-in memory to distinguish them from normal photos.
Title Edit and Stamp - you can print titles and other characters on the photos you shoot. This is great for creating your own postcards from a vacation trip.
Travel Date Setting - Input your departure date and destination. Later, during photo viewing, the camera will indicate on which day of the trip each shot was taken and the destination.
