French Tennis Open: Live 3D broadcast across Europe
Panasonic and the Fédération Française de Tennis renew their partnership to bring the 2011 French Tennis Open - Roland Garros live in 3D with Eurosport
Panasonic, the Fédération Française de Tennis (FFT) and Eurosport have announced that the 2011 French Tennis Open, Roland Garros, is set to broadcast live in 3D across Europe (excluding France), following the success of the multi-day 3D broadcast of the 2010 tournament in European retail stores.
The 2011 French Tennis Open, taking place from May 22nd through June 5th, is one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events. The 3-way partnership amongst Panasonic, Eurosport and the FFT plans to roll out the tournament to people across Europe, who will be able to experience the tournament in 3D, recreating the immersive experience of being court-side.
The 3D coverage produced on-site at Roland Garros will be broadcast live by Eurosport via satellite to retail stores in the UK and Ireland. Freesat and Arqiva will provide the communications infrastructure for the repeated signal of this 3D coverage of the event to reach Panasonic’s full HD 3D TVs in up to 650 participating retail stores across the UK and Ireland.
