Based on Matsushita’s Environmental Statement, we at Panasonic announced our new Environmental Vision, aimed at building a recycling-oriented society. We will continue to foster Co-existence with the Global Environment through promotion of what we call the two “ETs” – Environmental Technology coupled with Ecological Thinking.
Green Plan 2010
In order to implement our Environmental Vision, Panasonic launched the “Green Plan 2010” (GP2010), a medium-term environmental action plan with targets extending as far as 2010, as the name suggests. In 2005, as the plan reached its half-way point, we also comprehensively reviewed our direction and target levels.
In the new version of GP2010, we categorized our core targets into three groups: those issues which we consider most important in terms of environmental management are classified as “Basic Targets;” issues which should be tackled individually within their field are classified as “Area Targets”, and those issues that require management reorganization are “Management Targets.” We have also defined individual environmental indicators as “Environment Performance Targets,” which support the achievement of the core targets in the above-mentioned three categories.
Environmental Statement
The 21st century has been named "the century of the environment", in which every company, public organization and private citizen will play a crucial role in redefining not only corporate activities, but social systems and people’s values as well.
At Panasonic, one of our business visions for the 21st century is to make a positive contribution towards "Coexistence with the Global Environment." Based on our Environmental Statement, we have drawn up our Green Plan 2010, which outlines our vision for meeting specific environmental targets. We are stepping up our efforts to promote these concepts with concrete actions, as we continue to fine-tune our approach to environmentally responsible management.
Our Environmental Statement is based on two beliefs:
1. The natural law that without prosperity for all things on earth, there will not be true development and prosperity.
2. The fulfillment of social responsibility based on the awareness that humankind has the obligation to make the best use of things in a kind and fair manner.
