‘kids school – eco learning’
Panasonic is committed to contributing to society. That is why we are providing an education programme for our next generation to learn about being friendly to our Earth. Panasonic promotes eco learning programmes globally, and this is our European programme.
What the programme is all about
Developed by Panasonic and the non-governmental organisation FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) especially for primary school children between the ages of 7 and 11, the ‘kids school – eco learning’ education programme gives pupils the opportunity to learn about climate change and protecting our planet in an easy-to-understand and playful way.
After implementing a pilot study in Great Britain and Germany in 2009, Panasonic started providing schools and teachers with free educational material via this website in autumn 2010 – so they can put together their own eco lessons. Documents, videos and helpful lesson plans provide teachers with everything they need to teach children about environmental issues in an exciting and motivating way. While learning about what it means to be eco-friendly and protect our environment, children keep an ‘Eco Picture Diary’ in which they write down in words and pictures what they have learnt. This may include the effects of global warming or the neighbourhood clean-up event that they participated in, to name just two examples.
As an incentive to participate in the ‘kids school – eco learning’ programme and fill in the Eco Picture Diary, the school can send in the children’s diaries to Panasonic and enter a competition to win great Panasonic prizes. More information and the possibility to download the Eco Picture Diary template can be found above. This rather theoretical approach cannot replace learning about the environment while being outside, although some of the recommended 'kids school – eco learning' activities also take place outdoors.

Terms & conditions - Eco Picture Diary Competition
1 - The Competition (“Competition”) is open to primary schools in Europe. The Competition consists of two stages with separate prizes for schools foreseen for each of the stages:
(i) National stage: the best diaries from primary schools based in the United Kingdom will participate in the Pan-European stage of the Competition.
(ii) Pan-European stage: the winners in this category will be chosen out of the winning entries of the National stage submitted from Europe.
2 - The prizes awarded to the winning schools at each stage of the Competition will be:
National stage:
- 1st Prize - £2500
- 2nd Prize - Plasma Television (model TX-P42ST50)
- 3rd Prize - Digital Camera (model DMC-TZ30)
Pan-European stage:
Panasonic will pay 5,000 Euro for the winning school’s eco activities agreed between the school and Panasonic.
3 - To enter the Competition request the number of Eco Picture Diaries required, have your pupils write down or draw pictures of what they have learnt in the eco lessons at school and/or their own eco ideas. The Diaries can be created by individual pupils or groups of pupils consisting of up to five children.
To apply for Diaries email uk.kidsschool@eu.panasonic.com providing the number required, the contact they should be sent to and the full postal address.
Submit the best 3 Eco Picture Diaries per school to:

by the 31st of May 2013.
4 - The best national Eco Picture Diaries will be selected by 28th June 2013. All winning Eco Picture Diaries from the National stage will participate automatically in the Pan-European stage of the Competition. The European Award winner will be announced by 20th September 2013.
5 - Within 28 days of the end of the Competition the promoter will notify the school that the submitted diary won and qualified to the next stage of the Competition by phone or email using the information supplied at time of entry.
6 - By participation in this promotion the school confirms that they have obtained all necessary consents from parents of the children required to participate in the Competition, including but not limited to obtaining consent for any personal data of children.
