ENE EcologyNet Europe

Since 2000, coinciding with the launch of Panasonic’s Matsushita Eco Technology Center (METEC) in Japan, Panasonic has accumulated a wealth of recycling management know-how and technological expertise. We knew this expertise would be a valuable addition to the European recycling industry.

Accordingly, ENE EcologyNet Europe GmbH was established in Germany in April 2005 with a view to providing flexible and tailor-made recycling solutions. Initially focussing on the recycling of WEEE in Germany, ENE meets all the legal, transport and recycling obligations for Panasonic and any other producer who choose to use ENE in order to meet their obligations under the WEEE legislation.

As a subsidiary of Panasonic, the same quality and high ecological standards are applied to ENE’s operations. Together with engineers from Japan, ENE has confirmed the recycling technologies of major recyclers across Europe. ENE collects various kinds of waste electronic products, and analyzes them to determine the optimal recycling process. They are strengthening partnerships with local recyclers to improve recycling technologies and systems.

ENE sees high-quality control of secondary material streams, particularly glass and plastics, as a core part of its mission in Europe. The “glass story” is one example of advanced recycling technology of which the company is especially proud. Using this technology, ENE is able to meet the expectations of CRT manufacturing partners by providing them with a constant flow of high-quality cleaned CRT glass separated into funnel and panel glass.and enabling them to utilize these purified materials for further TV set production. To illustrate the glass recycling loop refer to the figure below.
