Adlington and Brabants receive Panasonic VIERA television and Blu-ray player

Rebecca Adlington and fellow Olympic champion Tim Brabants received a present from Panasonic, worldwide Olympic Games partner and Team GB sponsor.

Fresh from attending the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year awards on Sunday night, where Rebecca finished in the top three, both athletes attended Nottingham University Swimming Pool where Rebecca trains for much of the week, to receive their gifts.

Each of the 27 Olympic medallists, including Olympic gold and bronze medal winning canoeist Tim Brabants, will receive a 32” Panasonic Viera screen with HD Freesat built in and a Blu-ray player, in recognition of their hard work that kept the UK glued to their televisions for the two weeks of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and the successes that lifted the nation’s spirit.

After making history in Beijing when she won two gold medals in the pool (400m and 800m) to become the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908, Rebecca has chosen to trade in her two 32” Panasonic TV’s for a 46” plasma Panasonic TV, a 32” LCD TV and a recordable DVD player.

Keith Evans, Managing Director of Panasonic UK said: “Panasonic is proud to present each of the gold medal winners with a latest edition high definition TV and Blu-ray player in recognition of the hard work and their fantastic achievements in Beijing. This summer, Team GB put the ‘great’ back into Great Britain and I hope that the athletes will enjoy reliving their Olympic moments on the high definition Panasonic TV for many years to come.
