BACKGROUND
Since 1967, Hyundai has gained global recognition for the advanced technology and quality of its automobiles. In just over three decades, Hyundai Motor Company has grown into the world's eighth largest car manufacturer. The UK head office based in High Wycombe is their business critical hub housing over 200 employees.

PROBLEMS FACED/CHALLENGES:

Within Hyundai’s rapidly growing business, high quality, reliable compact units were needed to produce both internal documentation and external marketing materials. With limited space available multifunctional solutions were needed. The number of scanned documents had been growing rapidly however there was only one colour scanner used by all employees and shared over four floors, accessibility and throughput were a key issues that needed resolving. In addition to this the increase in scanning lead to a slow down of network resources as large files were being transferred more frequently.

All colour printing had to be outsourced at great cost. Low volume targeted promotions were very expensive to conduct as there was no access to colour printers on site. Some small viable sales channels such as the friends and family scheme simply didn’t have material produced for them as it wasn’t cost effective.

SOLUTION:

Hyundai purchased 11 Panasonic MFPs, including three colour units providing ample colour facilities and scan sites over the three storey building. Senior Technical Analyst James Grant was a key part of the team researching the solution.

“Connecting to network addresses is seamless with Panasonic units. Even when we’ve had to change the network address, it has been done in real time without causing any significant downtime.”

The ability to print in full colour on site means that high quality commercial documents, as well as low volume external marketing materials can be produced in a cost effective timely fashion. There has also been a startling improvement in the standard of printing, compared to previous models. James Grant continued:

“The units are compact, and simple to use. Employees no longer have to ask about what the units can do, as they perform all the required business functions. Quality is brilliant, we couldn’t fault it. Being able to scan colour files, convert these to PDF format and compress them simultaneously, has had a huge impact on efficiency and has provided relief for our network resources.”

As well as paying tribute to the units, James also highly praised the level of service provided by Panasonic’s engineers. “We noticed a massive improvement in reliability since switching to the current Panasonic solution. The quality of service is perfect, every time we phone up it’s taken to heart. If we phone before midday, we get an engineer on site by the end of the day.”



CONCLUSION:

The new units were integrated seamlessly with minimal disruption. Additional scanner facilities allowed for the increase in scanning whilst Panasonic compressed PDF feature kept network traffic low. The colour units allow high quality marketing materials to be produced in-house, as well as aiding other key business functions by producing clearer more attention grabbing documents.

But more than anything Panasonics solution has shown the ability to scale in a fast moving environment.

Hyundai’s sales have nearly doubled in the period that they have been using Panasonic Document Solutions.James Grant has the definitive final word:
