Panasonic SC-HC3 Compact Stereo System Wins European Micro System 2009-2010 Award

15th August 2009

Panasonic today announced that the company has been awarded the European Micro System 2009-2010 Award from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) for its SC-HC3 slim and compact stereo system. The SC-HC3 can play music from CDs or iPods and features an AM/FM radio tuner for listening to radio broadcasts, a clock and an auxiliary line input that allows music lovers to connect another component, if necessary. Along with the European Micro System 2009-2010 Award for the SC-HC3, three additional EISA Awards were awarded to Panasonic: European Plasma TV 2009-2010 (VIERA TX-P42V10), European HD Flash Cam 2009-2010 (HDC-TM300), and European Multimedia Camera 2009-2010 (LUMIX DMC-GH1). The four EISA Awards follows last year’s solid performance in which Panasonic also won four awards.

“We are really proud to receive the European Micro System 2009-2010 Award from the EISA Panel. The new SC-HC3 is designed to meet the needs of iPod users as well as CD enthusiasts who enjoy listening to their favorite songs in high quality at home. Despite its slimness, the SC-HC3 delivers an exceptionally pure, clear sound thanks to Panasonic’s advanced audio technology. Furthermore, its slim paperback design is not only space-saving, but also conserves energy,” explains Michael Friedrich, Manager Product Marketing Home AV, Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH.

EISA Award - Best Product 2009-2010 - Micro System - Panasonic SC-HC3

“Derived from the long audio tradition of Panasonic’s one-time sister brand, Technics, this micro audio system enhances any table or bookshelf like a piece of audio jewellery. Its slim and compact vertical design features a sliding door which opens to reveal both a CD player and an iPod docking station. Overall, it’s a system that’s slim in size yet big in sound,” the judges from EISA noted in justifying their selection.

Each loudspeaker includes one active drive unit, plus two passive units that increase the effective bass output of the system. The full-range active driver uses a 65mm cone made of rigid, low density bamboo material that helps achieve a clean, responsive sound, with crisp, clear vocals. A Dual Passive Radiator design cancels unwanted vibration and helps deliver pure bass sound with minimal noise. The diaphragm of the passive radiator is also weighted to achieve linear vibration. This makes it possible for the slim, thin speaker units to produce a robust, full-bodied bass. Across the entire sonic range from pure, clear trebles to rich, dynamic bass, the system delivers an audio performance that is simply incredible for a system of this size.

The EISA Awards will be officially presented during the official EISA Awards Ceremony on September 4th at the Adlon Kempinski Hotel in Berlin. Established in 1982, the European Imaging Sound Association (EISA) is a multimedia association that tests consumer electronic products. Its membership includes 50 audio, mobile, video and photo magazines from twenty European countries.
