New Panasonic LED light bulb has the same look, feel and brightness as a 40W incandescent lamp with far greater energy efficiency
(Frankfurt 16th April 2011) Panasonic today announced, at Light+Building 2012, its new LED lamp “Nostalgic Clear”. The lamp delivers the same clear light as a 40 Watt (W) incandescent light bulb due to Panasonic’s unique light diffusion and heat radiation technologies. In addition, it boasts an energy saving of approximately 84 percent compared to a 40W incandescent light bulb and has a lifespan of approximately 40,000 hours, which is approximately 40 times longer than that of a traditional clear bulb.
“We are seeing increased demand for LED lamps in Europe due to some countries banning or planning to ban incandescent light bulbs and consumers becoming more environmentally conscious. Our high quality innovative lamps offer the same look, feel and wide light distribution as an incandescent but with all the advantages of an LED. Therefore businesses and consumers gain cost savings while knowing they are causing less impact on the environment through their lighting choices. As such, we believe our 40W bulb is a great addition to our product portfolio and the European market”, said Alexis Fernandez, Product Manager, at Panasonic.
Panasonic’s new LED lamp builds on the success of its 20W equivalent LED light bulb which has won many design awards across the globe; including a gold iF award, the highest accolade, by the prestigious iF International Forum of Design in Hannover.
The new LED launch follows Panasonic’s full-scale entry into the European lighting market, where is has plans to grow its European LED lighting business to 15 billion yen by the end of FY2015 (ending 31st March 2015); a 500 percent increase on FY2010 (ended 31st March 2010) levels. In addition, the company also aims to increase sales for its global LED lighting business, including its lighting equipment business, to 200 billion yen by the end of FY2015. This equates to a ten percent global market share.
