Through the use of LED Large Screen Display Systems and DLP projectors, spectators at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games won’t miss a moment of the action. The HD video signals will be used for the first time for both international video signals and the display systems in the competition venues, making the Vancouver 2010 the first “HD Olympic Winter Games” with all the Olympic Games videos to be delivered completely in HD.

At BC Place Stadium, where the Opening Ceremony takes place, Panasonic will install three LED video screens with a total display area of 243m2. Together with Panasonic’s professional audio systems, plasma display panels, the Panasonic AV systems will deliver spectacular images of the Games. Panasonic also supports a safe and secure Olympic Games operation by providing high quality picture and high sensitivity surveillance camera systems for the indoor and outdoor Olympic Games facilities, the surrounding areas and highways to monitor spectators’ safety at all times.

Broadcast Equipment

In Vancouver, all international video signals for Vancouver 2010 will be produced and distributed in HD format from the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) to rights-holding broadcasters around the world. Panasonic has provided the video recording format of the Olympic Games nine times, since Barcelona 1992. Panasonic will provide P2HD series, a solid-state, memory-based news gathering system, as well as digital VTR system cameras and monitors to the IBC and other broadcasters. The P2HD camera system allows TV producers and directors great flexibility with high-speed editing thanks to the revolutionary P2 card.
