New for 2011, Panasonic is pleased to announce a new Flagship Full HD 1920x1080p (50p) 3D Ready camcorder featuring 28mm* Wide-Angle Lens, 40x Intelligent Zoom and HYBRID O.I.S. delivering expressive, blur-free wide-angle and zoom shots.

Full High Definition 1920x1080p (50p) - Offering unparalleled picture quality, the new HDC-SD90, records in full-HD 1920 x 1080, 50p progressive recording at a 28-Mbps bit rate, which allows the camcorders to capture about twice the information of 1080i (interlace) recording to produce the ultimate in image quality. It minimises afterimages and flickering caused by subject motion, and renders crisp, detailed images allowing you to enjoy the superbly smooth images and intricate details of 1080/50p recording.

Shooting in 3D, with a 3D Conversion Lens - The SD90 is the entry 3D Ready camcorder model in Panasonic’s expanding line-up. Because the left and right eyes are located at different positions on the face, the left and right eyes perceive slightly different images. The difference between the two images is called “visual disparity.” The brain processes these two images with visual disparity to reconstruct spatial conditions, enabling us to see things with three-dimensional depth. Simply attach the optional 3D Conversion Lens to record powerful, true-to-life 3D footage similar to those in Hollywood movies. Incorporating Panasonic broadcast technology, the new models let users easily create their own 3D movies, something that only professional image producers were previously able to do.

28mm* Wide-Angle Lens - The HDC-SD90 provides extra shooting diversity with a 28mm wide-angle. Especially convenient for recording indoors or in tight spaces, the 28mm* wide-angle makes it possible to shoot at a close distance while fitting both the subject and the surrounding area into the frame.

The lens captures stunning images of wide landscapes and allows large groups of people to fit into the frame, making it highly versatile for use in all kinds of situations.

x40 Zoom

x40 Intelligent Zoom - The Intelligent Zoom incorporates the Image Processing LSI “Crystal Engine PRO,” a super-high resolution technology to achieve ultra-telephoto 40x shooting beyond the optical zoom range of 26x. This brings faraway subjects right up close to capture dynamic images that fill the entire frame maintaining HD Quality.

New HYBRID O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) - The New HYBRID O.I.S. is a hybrid optical and electrical image stabilisation system. In addition to the blurring caused by vertical or horizontal wrist movements, the SD90 can also detect the subtle blurring that occurs when the entire arm moves vertically or horizontally.

In addition to the HYBRID O.I.S. system, the new SD90 provide even more powerful hand-shake correction with O.I.S. Lock. By pressing the O.I.S. Lock button on the LCD monitor, the blur detection sensitivity is maximized and all kinds of camera movements and corrected without image degradation.

Intelligent Auto (iA) for easy video recording - This powerful function senses the shooting conditions and automatically activates functions that will deliver optimal results for both motion and still images

Face Recognition - This recognises the faces of registered subjects, and automatically optimizes the focus and exposure for those special people.

AF Tracking - Touch the LCD screen to indicate the subject, such as a person or an animal, that you want to focus on, and let AF/ AE Tracking do the rest.

Face Detection - Face Detection automatically senses the ambient lighting and adjusts the exposure accordingly.

Intelligent Contrast Control - Helps suppress blown highlights and retains natural contrast.

Intelligent Scene Selector - This function analyses the shooting situation and automatically switches the camcorder to the suitable Scene mode that will give you optimal results.

Hybrid OIS – Reduces handshake when shooting.

iFrame - Panasonic HD Camcorders for 2011 now record in iFrame Mode. This is the native file format for Mac PC’s therefore making Panasonic Camcorders compatible for both Windows and Mac Users
