The Optical Image Stabilizer compensates for blurring caused by hand-shake. Apart from the digital image correction, the Optical Image Stabilizer corrects a jolt of light axis by shifting the lens unit to offset it. Thus the image is not affected digitally nor deteriorated at all. The Optical Image Stabilizer lets you shoot in dimly lit rooms or evening illumination without losing the mood It also works for macro shots and zoom shots, which are especially susceptible to hand-shake.

The DMC-LS6 features a 5x optical zoom lens from 26mm wide-angle (35mm equivalent: 26-130mm). The 26mm wide-angle lens captures approx. 181% larger viewing space compared with that of standard 35mm camera, which comes in handy when shooting vast landscapes or many subjects at short distance indoor.

The DMC-LS6 features a 14.1-megapixel high-resolution CCD. Combined with the Venus Engine, 14.1-megapixel CCD sensor enables the recording of beautiful photos and high-definition videos with higher quality signal processing.

In the iA Mode, 3 detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimize users settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. The iA Mode includes the Optical Image Stabilizer to detect hand-shake, Face Detection AF/AE to detect faces in the frame and adjust the brightness of the face properly, and Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions. The Face Detection AF/AE also features the Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal).

The DMC-LS6 can record motion pictures in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels in Motion JPEG format). The DMC-LS6's 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot LCD reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus before shooting. It also serves as a small photo and video viewer, allowing you and friends to enjoy viewing the still and motion images together.
