The DMC-FS37 features a 28mm wide-angle 8x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-224mm). The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective. The 8x optical zoom lens gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals with 16.1-megapixel resolution that you can't get close. The Extra Optical Zoom extends this 8x zoom ratio to powerful 18x zoom at a resolution of 3-megapixel or less.

The DMC-FS37 features a 3.0-inch touch-screen LCD. While shooting, AF can be set at the desired part of the frame with just a touch. You can also operate the AF and shutter release at the same time. While playing back, you can quickly select an image to view by scrolling images. The DMC-FS37 also features Intelligent LCD. It automatically adjusts the brightness according to shooting conditions. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, ranging from nighttime to bright daylight scenes.

With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas – outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas – are automatically detected. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, this technology precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way according to the area. As a result, images are clear and crisp. The Intelligent Zoom extends zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the image quality even combining a digital zoom. 8x optical can virtually extend to 10x equivalent.

In iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, advanced detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimize your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. iA Mode includes MEGA O.I.S. to detect hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection AF/AE to detect faces in the frame, AF Tracking to continually track a moving subject and keep it in focus, Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions and Intelligent Exposure to detect the brightness level.

The DMC-FS37 can record motion pictures in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 24 fps in Motion JPEG format). The DMC-FS37 can also upload movies onto YouTube, and photos onto Facebook. All you have to do is checkmark photos and movies you want to share and connect the camera or SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card to a computer. Uploading automatically starts just by following the guidance.
