Great buy!
I originally had a compact camera and wanted to upgrade it. I found that this camera was brilliant and takes beautiful photographs.
I only went out to buy a laptop case and seen this at an incredble price that I could not leave it in the shop for. Best impulse buy!
Once you have a mess around with the buttons and features and learn how to navigate your way around the camera it's so simple to use and I love it.
In all it's a great camera and a good transition from a compact to an SLR, further more the touch screen is an added bonus to an all round brilliant buy.

Great camera
I've had a Panasonic TZ model for some time now and thought the GF-2 would be great to move on to.
It's a bit complicated at first, but seems logically laid out. The manual isn't too helpful if you're the sort who likes to read up first and then use the camera.
Still, it's a lovely instrument, well-made and handy, and I like it very much.

first steps into DSLR
Wow what a camera never done photography before, but now taking shots like a pro. Once I mastered what all the functions do on the camera its simply to use. The lightweight and compact design is excellant meaning you can take it anywhere without the need of big ugly cases and massive lenses which make you look silly. (or is it just me )
I purchased the camera from black in birmingham , which I then went back and tested all the lenses available for the camera. I was impressed with the macro lense. But can't see the point of a 3D lense.
Overall i am very impressed with my impulse buy as I only went out for a pair of socks and came back with this minus £680 well worth it though if you can afford it .....

Great buy
I bought the GF2 and promptly took it around India for 3 weeks. I travel regularly, and this camera is a great compromise between a bulky SLR and a compact.
I initially had reservations about the touch screen (prefer buttons and dials), but it's really intuitive and easy to use. I was also worried about the lack of viewfinder, but the screen is very good, even in bright sunlight, not a single problem during my trip. The separate still and movie shutter buttons, and the quick iA mode button are well thought out, and make it easy to take advantage on the spur of the moment.
The camera's more advanced functionality also lives it up. The auto scene modes make more complex photography very accessible to the less experienced photographer, while fully manual is also an option, if a little clumsy to use. There are lots of other gadgets too, though I've not had chance to use them all. I'm not convinced about the point of face recognition and tagging people's names, but it's neat nonetheless.
Manual focus takes a bit of getting used to - zooms in on a portion of the image for fine focusing - but another nice feature and it's easy to use.
Negatives - I forgot to turn the camera off a couple of times and found the battery flat when I came to using it; maybe I've not worked out the sleep function properly yet. The cases available are also rubbish - I want something small (like the camera), but all I can find are bulky leather or large dedicated bags. I've settled with a neoprene bag-type case, which does the job but would be nice to have a skin-style case instead.
I love the fact that the camera gives an SLR style clunk when snapping, and it feels small, well made and 'cool'.
In summary, a fantastic little camera that'll be travelling with me everywhere I go. I'll still use my DSLR for more advanced shots, but I can see that it will soon be jealous of the use I will give the GF2. This camera will change the way we think about taking photographs and accessibility is the key.
