The Lumix DMC-FT1 is ruggedly resistant to the elements, meaning you can dive with it for underwater pictures or movie recording (3 metres waterproof), use it in dusty, sandy terrains (dustproof) and not have to spend more time worrying about the affects of dropping the camera as it is shockproof up to 1.5 metres. With the HD Movie 720p AVCHD Lite function, the DMC-FT1 makes it possible to record high quality movies with HD resolution and stereo sound. The new compression format, AVCHD Lite, doubles the recording time while using the same amount of storage and guarantees perfect movie quality.

The HDMI output allows easy connection to a Full HD TV, such as the Panasonic Viera Full HD TVs, perfect for high-quality movie and sound playback, which you can easily control with the Viera Link remote.

Intelligent Auto Mode

The Lumix DMC-FT1 not only offers Intelligent Auto (iA) mode for easy shooting with still images, but it also offers this superb mode for recording movies. The photo iA mode is a bundling of the following features:

- Mega O.I.S.
- Face Detection including Face Recognition,
- AF Tracking
- Intelligent Scene Selector (Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, and Night Scenery)
- Intelligent Exposure, and
- Intelligent ISO Control

The Face Recognition function registers your favourite persons in the frame when you are shooting and it also optimises the focus and exposure on your favourite persons for ideal shooting settings.

Intelligent Auto Mode

Life presents us with the moments when a still image just won’t suffice, like your child’s first steps, a wedding or the sound of a band. The clever iA mode movie features ensure those moments will be captured with the same vivid, true-to-life colour as your still images:
