Great value compact Purchased only recently, and already love this Camera. Previous camera of this type was of another well known brand but never liked the slow focus and always needing the flash. This camera is very quick to focus, takes pictures without flash and has a huge 10x zoom, other only had 5x which I thought good until now. I'd say the quality comes from the use of a Leica Lens, very sharp crisp images too. The high definition quality of the video is also very nice, looks really nice on a full HD tv. The cable wasn't supplied but is fairly standard if you use with a tablet pc. .The camera also takes up to a 64 gb full size sdhc card so plenty of choice and lots of room for the full Hd video. I do prefer also the enclosed Lithium battery, have had problems in the past with AA batteries forcing the battery compartment door open and breakage, no such problem with this camera. Quality is very good, the screen is a good size and I do like the quick video record button placed on the top right hand edge of the screen, although I have accidentally pressed this button and gone into a record mode. The camera also has stereo microphone to help with sound recording. I also like the two proper switches for the on/off and the camera/view mode switch again with past cameras it has been all too easy to accidentally switch on in a pocket or worse a snug fitting case, then breaking the lens mechanism as the lens tries to open, quick tip for all, always when you turn your camera off switch it to picture review, that way if it gets switched on, you will at most only run your battery down a little and not wreck your camera. I do also have SLR type camera for those long range and group wide angle close ups but to be honest this Panasonic even puts that in the shade with picture quality and it also has a good wide angle to get plenty into your photos, also having the 10x zoom means I will be much more unlikely to use my other camera. Very pleased with this camera. Also if you are going to take away on your hols, the battery does last a very long time but would recommend the purchase of a second battery which can be easily put in your pocket or bag. The charge lead is by way of a USB so can be easily charged via pc or laptop, even a train has the usb charge point in them now. The supplied plug has the usb connection on the top edge so no worries about the cable bending too much with being close to a work top say, again had this problem before, obviously the designer lives in the real world. 31 March 2013
